< 새끼-치기 >는 벼, 보리 등 분얼성 식물의 새로운 줄기가 형성되는 현상이며 가지치기라는 뜻의 농업 용어에서 따온 제목입니다. 본 줄기와 같은 유전형질을 지닌 것들이 늘어나거나 불어남을 생각하며 원 작품에서 ‘새끼-치기’를 한 ‘가지’ 정체성을 지닌 작품을 전시하고 그 ‘가지’를 거래합니다. 전시는 기존 작품에 대한 재인식, 새롭게 보기, 다시 보기를 통해 소유 가능한 물성을 제공합니다.
2회를 맞은 2024년 < 새끼-치기 >의 슬로건은 “It’s time for LOVE”입니다. 작가가 한해 혹은 그 이상의 시간을 공들여 지은 농사의 결과물인 작품을 소중하고 애틋하게 한 자 한 자 꾹꾹 눌러 담은 편지의 그것과 같이 새로운 물성의 분신으로 빚었습니다. 2024년 4월 10일, 우리는 미처 도착하지 못한 편지의 수신인을 호출합니다.

Saekki-Chigi takes its name from an agricultural term referring to the phenomenon in tillering plants, such as rice and barley, where new stems form — a process also meaning "branching."The exhibition reflects on the idea of entities with identical genetic traits multiplying and expanding.It presents works that have "branched off" from original pieces, each carrying its own distinct identity as an offshoot, and makes these offshoots available for exchange.Through the processes of reinterpreting, re-seeing, and re-engaging with existing works, Saekki-Chigi offers tangible materialities that can be owned.
Now in its second edition in 2024, the slogan of Saekki-Chigi is "It’s time for LOVE."Much like letters lovingly and carefully pressed into words — letters that may never reach their intended recipients — the artists have crafted new material offshoots from the fruits of their labor, the results of a year or more of dedicated cultivation.On April 10, 2024, we call upon the unseen recipients of these yet-to-be-delivered letters.
